The last few years of my life were pretty exciting and worth showing-off. I don’t usually do that, but well, I can change!
I went to Perry County, Indiana, USA as a cultural exchange student in Std.11, which is pretty awesome because I bet none of you did that!
But even otherwise, I had a good time and came to the conclusion that USA would never feature in my list of ‘destinations out of India, I would like to go and study at’. Sorry WordPress, Google and anyone else that I may have offended, but I am entitled to my opinion.
For the lack of any other interesting activities in my life while I was pursuing first year of B.Com, I decided to try my luck at a contest which would give me a chance to become a student journalist with Mumbai Mirror. My application was accepted and in the 8 months that I was associated with them, I had about half a dozen articles to my name, in print.
I laminated my first article, highlighted the by-line that read my name and emailed every one I knew to check the article, either online or in the paper. It’s the excitement that comes when you see your name in the paper. For all the right reasons!
I interned with Smart Potato, a company which organizes summer camps for children between 3-12. I was with them for one summer and I had the time of my life!
Looking for lucrative options, I ended up interning at Fresh TV, a post-production media company and learnt the fine art of subtitling and working on MacPro- which is a machine you use to make promos for movies & sit-coms. I did manage to make a promo- but since it was my first try – it turned out to be a disaster. There was scope for a lot more, but I quit!
I then took up freelance writing assignments and have been involved with them ever since. I must say, it’s good money!

The BIG event in my life currently, is the final exam, which is scheduled for March, 2010. It’s important to me, specifically because:
1) The average percentage of year one, two and three will be considered when I apply to various universities in Australia & the fact that the average of the last two years comes up to 65% is not good enough for me.
2) If I don’t fare well, I may suffer losses upto Rs.3000/- (Subject to change, if some one comes along, challenging me to get over 75% in the exams)
